I remember back on MPA people would have a shit fit if if posts older than like a month old were resurrected. Lately here I have been seeing posts from the day day we opened here coming back up. Just wondering what the rule is here about this. I dont care either way. Was just curious if it was a thing here. Thanks guys.
Also, notice how I said "we" as if I had anything to do with this place opening lol

@ThatGirl100 I HATE necrobumping and once we are busier and there's enough activity and content for everyone all the time....I will make sure the necrobumping stops.

I feel like right now we gotta tolerate it because arguably there isn't enough content/activity to keep people busy/occupied, etc.

We will get to that point eventually, but I don't think we're there yet. Unless someone is a serial necrobumper (there's a phrase I never thought I'd say), we wouldn't warn someone over necrobumping, but we would lock the thread to stop any further necrobumping. Also it depends on the thread right now. For example, if someone bumps the 'do you fear Easter' thread in December....yeah that's not necessary and I would shut it down.

As an aside, if I see what I think is a new thread and I open it and see it was started on July 2nd....I don't bother responding even if I've never responded.

Haha that's how much I hate necrobumping. I feel like almost a year later no one really gives a fuck anymore?

So if I have a question or want to post something and it's already been posted but ages ago, I should make a new thread?

I am curious as to the hatred behind necrobumping and why it's wrong on forums. I know it's frowned upon on many, but I've never understood why. In my mind duplicates of the same thread is far more annoying. Re the emboldened part: that I totally understand. But if it's a question that repeatedly comes up and you simply don't reply because of the date as you said in your second post and as the last poster asked, why is it seen as better to make an entirely new thread rather than just picking up on one that's already going that you have something new to add to? If it's been necrobumped at all it's obvious that people do still give a fuck. Obviously disregarding those who just write "bump lolz".

Why I hate necrobumping:

Inevitably someone will bump a thread that was full of fighting and drama that died 2 years ago and someone will necrobump and start quoting people and get it all stirred up; that leads to more work for the mods.

Or someone responds to a member finally answering their obscure calorie question from years ago that clearly isn’t an urgent question years later and makes the person who necrobumped and everyone after them look silly. Apparently most people don’t pay attention to bumped threads and just keep on responding.

The entire point of forums is to engage with others in various discussions. If I make a thread today I honestly do not want or need a response months or years later...if the question hasn’t been answered or a discussion had...pretty sure I’ve moved on months and years later.

I won’t be mad if you make a new thread.

Obviously, if it’s a question or discussion that hasn’t been had I am not locking threads that are necrobumped; however, I know it annoys people so if there are mass threads getting necrobumped that don’t really warrant that...that is something I would shut down.

I think if it's a question about like how the site works or about rules or something like that I doubt they would care if that was bumped.  If it a post in Gen ED about say "what's your favorite safe food?" A new one is better than bumping an old I think. For 1 I wont have to look back and see If I already responded. The biggest thing though is that opinion posts anybody could have their answer change from one week to the next. What might be a safe food for me now might not be In a few days because my brain is fucked up and i change my mind a lot. That's just my .02 though, i could be way off lol
